Access and Dialogue

I strongly believe in promoting transparency and encouraging open conversations with residents. To facilitate this, I will implement regularly scheduled evening Commissioner meetings and Town Hall events that focus on "hot" topics. I firmly believe every resident should have the chance to voice their thoughts and opinions. It is essential to me your voices are heard and that decisions are made according to the collective needs of the community.

Quality Rural Living

It is vital for our county's leaders to recognize and appreciate the significance of preserving the high standard of rural living that many of us in Gilpin County cherish. At the same time, they must efficiently manage the county's finances, ensuring a fiscally responsible budget that meets the needs and demands of our community. The services we have grown accustomed to should not be compromised, as they contribute to the overall well-being and satisfaction of our residents. By striking a balance between maintaining the quality of our rural lifestyle and effectively managing our resources, our county leadership can ensure the continued prosperity and contentment of the people of Gilpin.

Community Focus

County leadership needs to restore the Community Center to a level all residents have come to expect after 20 years of service. This facility offers a home for all ages of our residents. It serves as a community hub and should not be used as a bargaining chip to increase taxes.

Childcare is essential for so many families. Responsible, affordable facilities that can be depended on without the fear of closure, for any reason. Reliable and trustworthy options should be a priority to help support our community.

Senior living needs to evolve with the needs of our seniors. Ensuring they have a reliable housing source to enjoy in their golden years, a place they can call home in a community they have chosen.

Ensuring the food pantry continues to be managed without creating long-term financial consequences. It is important to aid our fellow residents, no person or family should go without food or the necessities to thrive.

Our community is small, and we depend on each other. This is one of the many reasons I love living here. We check on our neighbors during snowstorms and ensure the most basic of needs are met, if not exceeded. While this needs to continue how much involvement the County government should be involved is debatable. As a community we need to ensure is all residents – from the youngest to the oldest are protected and guarded.

Fiscal Responsibility

Fiscal responsibility goes beyond the immediate needs and demands of the present year. It entails the development of a comprehensive strategy that takes into account the future, ensuring that we are adequately prepared for the next five and ten years. This involves incorporating replacement and maintenance cycles into our budget planning, which prevents us from burdening the residents with sudden costs or compromising the services that our community heavily relies on. By considering the long-term implications and expenses, we can avoid holding our residents hostage and instead provide them with the essential services necessary for the prosperity of our community.
